Pubquest Helps Consumers Locate Craft Breweries

The web-site www.pubquest.com is an internet-based craft brewery mapping locator in the U.S. and three provinces of Canada.

"PubQuest is ideal for finding your local beer in your home towns as well as when you travel," says Julie Wartell of Pubquest. "We try really hard to keep everything updated by reading as many beer magazines and websites as possible and getting feedback from the beer drinkers themselves."

The site has recently been updated to search by address or zooming into an area, a feature aimed at providing a larger overview of cities and states.

"With only minimal, mostly word-of mouth marketing we average over 200 hits per day," Wartell reports. "We are also constantly working on increasing the users."

Ms. Wartell reports that the site offers memberships to craft beer drinkers. As part of the membership, the members receive a variety of discounts at craft breweries and brewpubs.

"The breweries’ incentive [to join] is that the more people that use PubQuest, the more that are going to find their craft brewery/brewpub," Wartell said, "in addition to getting a 2nd listing on the website on the Memberships page.

PubQuest also offers advertising through web site sponsorships, and a craft brewery can get additional exposure through their logo/graphic/wording.

"We are embarking on creating custom maps of cities and other areas," Wartell reported. "If members tell us what areas they think are important to highlight, we can move those to the top of the list."
